Sometimes, for aesthetics, it is helpful to break up a WordPress site description with line breaks. Doing this with WordPress is problematic, though, as simply adding a <br> tag to the site description just outputs the same in the front-end description. To fix this, we have to manipulate the way the description is reading the string. This is a bit hacky, but it works for me, so I wanted to share.
Put commas in your description where you want line breaks
This also makes the use of the description tag not break in other parts of the site (like in the <title> tag of your html). Then use the following PHP code to
- create a variable for the new blog description ($blogdesc)
- replace the commas with line breaks
- then echo the new description
